Voices To Be Heard

On this date - 3:16 - I want to focus in on the essence of the gospel and how God has called each of us to be an ambassador for Him, to amplify His truth to the world around us.  We can do this because the Bible tells us in Romans 8 that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in our hearts.  So, we are saved and empowered to be used of God in a powerful way.  Here's a Scripture passage from John 3, beginning with verse 16 (ESV):
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.

The Bible tells us to make the most of the opportunities that we have before us, and we can enter into discussions, into spiritual conversations, that can be used of God to penetrate the hearts of those who hear.

The Christian Post recently reported on a three-hour podcast conversation between podcast host Shawn Ryan, a professing Christian and military veteran, and Christian apologist Wes Huff.

The article says that Huff, "who has gone viral over the past year for defending Christianity on prominent podcasts such as 'The Joe Rogan Experience,' touched on his personal faith journey, the problem of suffering and his own potentially supernatural healing."

In the interview, according to the article, "Huff said he became acutely aware of supernatural power at 11 years old when he inexplicably overcame acute transverse myelitis, a rare neurological condition that leads to paralysis and is caused by an inflammation of the spinal cord when the body attacks itself in response to an infection."  It goes on to state, "He said his childhood 'supernatural experience,' which confounded even medical experts, helped him 'to connect the dots between my heart and my head' to understand that the Lord is real and can intervene.'

They also covered the nature of suffering, the "contradiction" of claims made in the Bible vs. those in the Quran, and the importance of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

This is the latest appearance on a high-profile podcast by Huff, the Central Canada director for Apologetics Canada.  Another Christian Post article related this last year:
Popular Christian apologist Wesley Huff went viral this week for his explanation of the Gospel to a group of comedians on an influential podcast.

"When you stand before the judgment throne, you’re either going to take the penalty you deserve, or you're covered in the righteousness of Christ, and that penalty is on Him," Huff said on comedian Andrew Schulz's "Flagrant" podcast, which has nearly 2 million YouTube subscribers.
The article also mentioned the Rogan experience, as well as his encounter with host Billy Carson, stating, that the apologist "...first drew attention for a viral debate last October with author and media personality Billy Carson about the veracity of biblical texts, which prompted Carson to threaten a lawsuit against him."

So, Wes Huff is a dedicated Christian believer showing up in some unexpected, non-traditional places for Christian speakers.  But, then, can you not say that God has opened up some unique opportunities for him to talk about matters of faith?   I think we can also apply this to our own lives; we must not reject opportunities to speak truth, even if it may be a situation that has "never been done that way before."  That is perhaps one of the hindrances to the spread of the gospel.

We can recognize our calling to represent Christ in the world in which we live, in which He has placed us.  To be an influential voice for Him.  We can depend on the Holy Spirit to open doors for us, to become involved in meaningful conversations in which Christ is exalted, and to give us the words to speak in any situation.  By so doing, we shine the light of Jesus and influence the culture for Him.
