Here are the Top 10 Topics of 2025 impacting the Christian community.  These were presented on The Meeting House program on Faith Radio, incorporating comments from Meeting House guests throughout the year.

10 - Artificial Intelligence continues to proliferate & presents a concern to the Church & culture

It can be a positive in areas of research and even content generation, but if one depends on AI for sermon writing or it becomes a substitute for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it can easily dilute the doctrines upon which our faith is based.

9 - Males in female sports remains a subject of concern

From the President to the courts, to governing bodies for athletics following legislation passed by state lawmaking bodies in the past, the issue of males playing in female sports is certainly top-of mind.

8 - The President defends religious liberty and establishes a Religious Liberty Commission

President Trump continued to highlight the importance of religious liberty, and the commission, established through executive action, heard about infractions on freedom of religion.

7 - Violence against Christians in Nigeria attracts attention, including that of the U.S. State Department

Christians experienced continued oppression and persecution at the hands of their neighbors, and the U.S. took military action on Christmas Day to strike back at ISIS forces in one region of the country.

6 - Abortion-pill debate intensifies as mixed signals come out of Administration

There were indications that the Department of Health and Human Services would examine the risks to women from the abortion pill.  A study was released showing that the regimen was 11 times more likely than the FDA had indicated to inflict harm. Unfortunately, the Food and Drug Administration authorized yet a new generic abortion pill during the year.
 
5 - Pregnancy care centers face opposition, plead case in court

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case in which New Jersey’s attorney general was placing unreasonable restrictions on pro-life pregnancy resource centers. Also, a federal appeals court allow centers in New York to continue to inform women about Abortion Pill Reversal, despite attempts by that state’s attorney general to silence them.

4 - SCOTUS halts abortion funding through Medicaid

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling involving the state of South Carolina, upholding a state's right to choose not to send state Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood.

3 - First step of peace plan goes into effect in Middle East, antisemitism continues to grow

A cease-fire was put into place between Israel and Hamas, including the release of the remaining living hostages, the first step in a proposed peace plan that has gained widespread approval, but the implementation will certainly be difficult. Also, antisemitism continued to be a problem throughout the world.

2 - SCOTUS upholds TN ban on gender change surgeries and treatments

The issue of procedures, including surgeries and treatments, that attempt to change the gender of a minor, has been making headway through various states, with over half of the states passing legislation to ban these procedures.  The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a Tennessee ban on what HHS now calls, “sex-rejecting procedures.”

1 - Charlie Kirk death calls for re-evaluation, spiritual response

The death of Charlie Kirk, noted commentator, media host, and committed Christian believer, has continued to resonate through our culture.  It had such an effect on people that one-quarter of American adults indicated in a Barna Group survey that they had taken spiritual action as the result of it.
