Prayer becomes central focus in DC
Several years ago, three men - Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, Jim Garlow of Well Versed, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson - teamed up to organize a February gathering that was devoted to just one thing: prayer. As The Washington Stand reported:
On February 4, 2026, hundreds of voices rose in unison right in the beating heart of Washington, D.C. — not in anger, not in protest, but in raw, humble surrender. The Museum of the Bible became a spiritual battleground where believers from every corner of the earth gathered, not to demand, but to plead — for people to pray. This was not merely an event. The 2026 National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance was an opportunity to confess the sins that have scarred our country and cry out for God to stoop down, extend His mighty hand, and lead us back to the path of righteousness.
The article noted, "Faith leaders, CEOs, and everyday warriors for truth all converged in one place, united by a single goal: to see the world turn toward Christ." It said that as Jim Garlow of Well Versed, "declared, this moment should be met with 'a sense of holy urgency — a sense of holy desperation.'” The article also related, "Perkins emphasized that the moment calls for reflection: if the Founders sought freedom for a divine purpose, and that same purpose was entrusted to us as a nation — to serve God, honor Him, and live under His authority — then 'we must ask the question,' he said, 'are we living by that purpose today as a nation?'”
The event was held before the annual National Prayer Breakfast in DC. Also, this past week, it was announced that the Freedom 250 coalition crafting events to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding has scheduled Rededicate 250 on the National Mall on May 17th. Its website states: "In speech, song, and storytelling, we will bear witness to the extraordinary story of how God has powerfully and wondrously shaped the United States of America—remembering the people, sacrifices, and defining moments in which God has powerfully manifested Himself in our history."
Also, the federal Department of Education released "Guidance on Constitutionally Proected Prayer and Religious Expression in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools." First Liberty President, CEO, and Chief Counsel Kelly Shackelford is quoted on the organization's website: "These revisions to the Guidelines on Prayer and Religious Expression ensure that the religious liberty of students in public schools is protected. The Supreme Court made it clear in our victory for Coach Joe Kennedy that America’s students and teachers are free to exercise their faith in school. We will continue to fight to ensure that every school in the nation gets that message."

Call for parental rights order aims to counter state laws
Those who support the LGBT agenda has attempted to punish parents for standing on their deeply held beliefs on biological sex. As The Daily Citizen from Focus on the Family points out, "States like Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont, Oregon, Washington and California require prospective foster parents to affirm a child’s same-sex attraction and sexual identity confusion." The article goes on to say that, "In 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services released regulations giving progressive, “gender affirming” foster care placement organizations privileged status over biology-affirming ones.
The Daily Signal reported that, "A conservative coalition led by parental rights activist Erin Friday has met with the White House’s Domestic Policy Council to work on a directive establishing that parents should not risk losing custody of their children if they don’t affirm their child’s chosen transgender identity, Friday and other coalition members told The Daily Signal."
The Daily Citizen reported that the proposed order includes four items:

The Daily Citizen reported that the proposed order includes four items:
- Explicitly affirm parents’ constitutional right to raise their children according to their religious beliefs.
- Repeal federal foster care rules preventing or obstructing people who affirm biological sex from becoming foster parents.
- Prohibit organizations from using federal funds to remove children from parents who do not affirm same-sex attraction or sexual identity confusion.
- Remove federal funding from organizations which help children conceal sexual identity confusion from their parents.
The article notes, "These four recommendations would prevent federal and state governments from unconstitutionally withholding adoption and foster care licenses from Christians or taking children with sexual identity confusion away from loving, Christian parents."
Massive payout ordered in de-transitioner case
Perhaps the house of cards of the gender transition industry is beginning to crumble. A huge verdict in a court case was awarded recently. The website of the Standing for Freedom Center at Liberty University reported: "...the first-ever verdict in a medical malpractice suit filed by a gender detransitioner was handed down, with a New York jury awarding 22-year-old Fox Varian $1.6 million in damages and $400,000 for future medical expenses. Varian had sued her psychologist and surgeon for uncritically diagnosing her with gender dysphoria and giving her a double mastectomy when she was just 16 years old."
Just a few days after the announcement, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) made a recommendation that gender-change surgeries not be performed until someone is 19 years old. The ASPS stated, “Available evidence suggests that a substantial proportion of children with prepubertal onset gender dysphoria experience resolution or significant reduction of distress by the time they reach adulthood, absent medical or surgical intervention.”
But, this is not new information. The warning signs have been pervasive. The article points out, "It’s the exact same conclusion reached by the United Kingdom nearly four years ago and affirmed in the landmark Cass Review in 2024, leading the U.K.’s National Health Service to ban all gender treatments in children — medical, surgical, and social."
The Center related that there are at least 27 similar cases that are "waiting in the wings," including the lawsuit filed by one of the most famous de-transitioners, Chloe Cole, who was featured in the Colson Center/Focus on the Family documentary, Truth Rising. The article says:

In early 2023, Cole filed the first-ever detransitioner suit, claiming that Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals unquestioningly affirmed her “self-diagnosed gender dysphoria” when she was 13 and performed a double mastectomy when she was 15.
Like Varian, Cole also suffered from autism, an eating disorder, and mental health issues. Her lawsuit is expected to be heard in April in California.
In response to the verdict, Cole wrote on X, “I couldn’t be more happy for Fox Varian. Detransitioners need justice.”
