Making Peace

We can recognize that Bible prophecy is pointing to a coming time in which the Church will be taken away, and the Antichrist will be revealed.  A time of great Tribulation will unfold upon the earth.  And, Israel, as I like to say, is a barometer of what will be taking place.

Israel has been at the center of turmoil since it was established, or really re-established as a formal, official nation in 1948, encompassing land that had been promised to the chosen people of God during the times of the Old Testament.  Now, in the midst of conflict, there is talk of peace.  It's a great-sounding concept, but we must recognize that promises of peace can be deceptive.  Consider Ezekiel 13 (ESV), which says:
9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord God.
10 Precisely because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace, ’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,
11 say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! There will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out.

Its been pointed out that in Ezekiel 38, in which a consortium of nations will attempt to invade and overpower Israel, that the nation would be living in peace. But, what does that mean?  What does that look like?

I read this just a few weeks ago, and it was rather startling.  Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries and long-time host of Understanding the Times, wrote this at the Harbinger's Daily website:
President Trump is forming a “Board of Peace” made up of ten international leaders from Arab and Western nations—leaders who will collectively oversee the next phase of governance, security, and reconstruction in Gaza and the broader Middle East peace framework. Ten leaders. Not nine or twelve. Does this not prick the curious mind of the average Bible prophecy student?
In Daniel, there is a vision of a beast with ten horns.  There's a similar vision in Revelation. An angel told John in Revelation, '"And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast."  It has been taught that the 10 horns were the nations comprising the Common Market of Europe, which has now morphed into the European Union, with over double that number.

Now, as Jan references, the President has put together a Board of Peace. The Christian Post reported:
The Trump administration has described the Board of Peace as a transitional administration for post-war Gaza, with the mandate to direct governance, reconstruction and investment in the territory. The body was authorized under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 in November 2025 and formally launched earlier this month.

The board’s charter states that it will “promote stability, restore dependable and lawful governance, and secure enduring peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict.” President Trump is listed as the chairman and appointing authority.

The UAE became one of the first countries to accept Trump’s invitation to join the board, which includes leaders from Russia, Belarus and Hungary, according to Politico.

The board’s executive committee features Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair. According to a White House statement, the board’s charter includes overseeing Gaza’s stabilization, infrastructure development and regional coordination.
There are quite a few more nations that have signed on, and nations are members for three-year terms.  The President (whose term as President perhaps will be expiring or wold have expired on the first renewal date), will be determining who gets renewed.  But there is an exception, according to The Christian Post: "The charter clarifies that 'the three-year membership term shall not apply to Member States that contribute more than USD $1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within the first year of the Charter’s entry into force.'”

Also, "Countries can voluntarily withdraw from the Board of Peace. Trump can also remove member states from the Board of Peace, but any such decision is subject to a veto of two-thirds of the member states." And, the President will remain the Chair of the Board until he decides to resign and, "Any potential successor to Trump as chairman must be chosen by the president himself and approved by a unanimous vote of the Executive Board. Members of the Executive Board serve two-year terms, with renewal subject to approval by the president."  Gives the President an amazing amount of power and influence, presumably even after his term is over.   But the U.N. only has authorized the Board until the end of 2027.

An article at the Charisma Magazine website states:
Scripture repeatedly warns of a period marked by declarations of peace and security that precede sudden disruption. The books of Daniel and Revelation describe a future system in which power is distributed among influential leaders whose authority shapes global outcomes without the trappings of monarchy.

The concern raised is not about identifying a single prophetic figure but recognizing the emergence of a framework consistent with biblical descriptions of a deceptive global order.

Particular attention has been given to redevelopment concepts for Gaza that emphasize advanced technology, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. While such proposals are often presented as economic solutions, critics argue that centralized digital systems closely resemble the economic controls described in Revelation 13.

Biblical prophecy, they argue, suggests such systems develop gradually through interconnected networks that regulate participation in commerce and society rather than appearing overnight.
Jesus taught in the Olivet Discourse about wars and rumors of wars, of nations rising against nations, and we are certainly seeing that today.  The response to the Board of Peace is certainly gratifying, and I would even say prophetic.  Because peace needs a peacemaker.  President Trump seems to be assuming that role - but for how long?  Will he be able to hold this peaceful coalition together?   But, the Scriptures teach that the world conditions will be such that a leader will be able to take over the whole world.  I am not saying that any one person is the Antichrist.  It's just that conditions are ripe.

And, what does that mean for us?  As the Church, it builds hope and urgency.  Hope that Jesus is coming for His bride, His Church, to take us to heaven and to shield us from this great tribulation, which includes a dominant world leader and dominant world system. There is also the urgency that Christians should want to take as many people with us as we can, and we should be mobilized to demonstrating and sharing our faith in Jesus.

We are the people of hope, and in the midst of swirling dangers and false ideologies, in a world of chaos, we can be the peacemakers in our own spheres of influence.  Peace needs a peacemaker, and through the Prince of Peace, we can live in the inner peace that only Christ can give.
